Horticulture Tour of Central Italy

PROGRAM
This tour is an 11-day intensive horticultural study tour that will introduce students to the production of local food products and traditions of Tuscany with particular emphasis on quality and safety.
Students will learn about the growing, harvesting, and processing of plant products and why people of Tuscany place such a high emphasis on their produce. Students will also explore the botanical gardens of Italy that have played an important part in the history of this country. The language, rich art, and culture of Italy will also be studied. This course will include preparatory class meetings during the fall and spring semesters to acquaint students with the region, the language, the culture, and plants of this region.
ELIGIBILITY
Minimum 2.5 GPA.
CREDIT
Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive 3 hours of academic credit for GENAG 505: Horticultural Tour of Central Italy.
