ADMISSION TO THE PROGRAM

Admission to the Wildlife and Outdoor Enterprise Management B.S. Degree Program (WOEM) is selective and competitive. Since the Wildlife and Outdoor Enterprise Management Program is unique, it is the desire of this institution that students enrolled in the Wildlife and Outdoor Enterprise Program are selected not only on potential but also from a nation-wide pool of applicants (east of the Mississippi River, plains states, and mountain west/west states). International students are also encouraged to apply.
Applicants must first be admitted to Kansas State University (see Step 1). Once admitted, the student must then fill out a “selective” admissions form specifically for the WOEM Program (see “Step 2” below).
Since each student in the Wildlife and Outdoor Enterprise Management Program will be handling and firing firearms throughout their training at Kansas State University, students admitted to the “WOEM” Program must pass both a drug test and a background check.
Step 1:
A) Apply online for admission to K-State (www.k-state.edu/admit)
B) Select Wildlife and Outdoor Enterprise Management as curriculum option.
C) Once you meet institutional admission standards, you will be directed to the
"WOEM Selected Admissions” site for final selection into the program.
Step 2:
Once you are admitted to K-State and “WOEM” selective admission site, you will fill out the “WOEM Selected Admissions Form” and provide the following supplemental information for “Selection Committee” review.
- A brief written statement outlining your interests in a career in Wildlife and Outdoor Enterprise Management as well as selected life experiences that have directed your decision to pursue this degree.
- Two letters of reference (none from family members) indicating your interests in the outdoors and your general qualities and character.
Step 3:
Once completed packages are in, a "review committee" made up of faculty will identify the top candidates for consideration for admission into the program.
Step 4:
The Director of the Wildlife and Outdoor Enterprise Management Program will conduct telephone interviews of the top candidates each year and identify the students selected for admission.
